Remember back in the 90s when you use to watch TV shows such as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air??

Sad news hit as James Avery, who was best known as 'Uncle Phil' from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air passed away last night on New Year's Eve.

Avery was 65 and passed away at a hospital in L.A. from complications to open heart surgery he recently had.

Avery's onscreen son Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton, from Fresh Prince) took to Twitter to address the loss:

I'm deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away. He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly. pic.twitter.com/UrW0EeBFbO

 In his 30 year career, some other shows he appeared on were: "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Jeffersons." He was also the voice of Shredder, on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'.
