I Am... Mitzi Miller, a New York native. I am a best-selling author and award-winning journalist. After graduating with an Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Florida A&M University in 1997, I began my career at Honey magazine, where I grew from intern to entertainment editor. I later became a associate relationship editor at Jane magazine and the editor-in-chief at SET magazine.
I've co-wrote five popular books over the past decade: The Vow: A Novel; The Angry Black Women's Guide to Life; and the three-title Hotlanta young adult series. I am a frequent public speaker, where I delivered the keynote address at the 2011 FAMU Homecoming Convocation, the 2012 National Black MBA Association's annual conference, the 2013 Sears/Kmart Black History Month Event and most recently at the Clayton State University Annual Student Leadership Conference.
In April 2014, I became editor-in-chief of EBONY magazine, prior to that, I was editor-in-chief of JET magazine since May 2011. These positions named me the only individual other than the company founder John H. Johnson to hold both prestigious editorial positions. In January 2015, came the success of the movie "With This Ring," aired on Lifetime Network, which is based off the 2006 book that I co-wrote, "The Vow."
My recognition includes being Florida A&M University's 125 Outstanding Alumni of the Quasquicentennial, The Root 100 honorees for 2013 and 2014, and Crain's Chicago Business Magazine's 2011 40 under 40 roster. In February 2014, I step down as editor-in-chief of EBONY magazine to start a new chapter of my life to pursue writing for television and film.
