As UAPB's new interim Chancellor, Dr. Calvin Johnson looks to work hard within the 12 months or more during the search for a new Chancellor to take on what Dr. Lawrence A. Davis lead for 20 years, which is now in place. The University is ready to do what it takes to increase enrollment and equip graduates for the work force.

UAPB found out this past Thursday, that the prosecutor won't be filling any criminal charges in the UAPB audit investigation which took place starting back in January and four employee fired including the former Chancellor's Sectary who was administrator over the Harrold Complex Dorm. Johnson said it was a chance for UAPB to move on.

"The decision rendered by the prosecuting attorney today was brought this process to a point of closure and has opened the gates so that we can go ahead and get some things done that we need to do" Johnson told a reporter according to the PB Commercial.

Spring 2011 Political Science graduate and 2011-2012 President of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Student Government Association announce his candidacy for Mayor of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Broughton states: "I want to move Pine Bluff forward through positive thinking and actions that will create a promising and economically sound future for everyone, particularly our young people," and adding that he believes he possesses "the necessary leadership abilities."

While former SGA members are moving forward, the current and newly elected officers are also moving forward in the SGA. As the new 2012-2013 cabinet,114679_web_UAPB-alumni1.jpgSGA President Obum Nwankwo (Left), Executive Director Marquise Carter (Left) and Miss UAPB Raulanda Watley recently attended an Alumni Conference hosted by the North Carlina chapter for the 1st time to promote legacy and raise scholarship funds. Other attendees included Pine Bluff Major Carl A. Redus, Chancellor Charlie Nelms of North Carlina Central University, Dr. Stephen Broughton, a member of the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees, Marcus Chanay, Vice President of Student Affairs at Jackson State University, and Eunice Williamson, Organizer of the First National Alumni Conference (1988).

While the conversely about our CEO & Senior Editor DJ (Demetrius Johnson Jr.) decision about leaving the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, well he has recently released his decision to return back to the University. He will make his return back on August 20th. He had offers from East-West University (Chicago) and Kentucky State University (Frankfort). He will return to his third year attending at the University and he say's he is also moving forward along with everyone else and hoping for the best.

"I will return to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. I'm not announcing my departure but I'm restating my re-entry and to say I am the one paying tuition for my education at this institution and not the students nor the administrators and staff. They are actually making their salary from my tuition. When I get back, there will be a lot of changes to be made academically and student life wise. I just hope for the best and hopefully I still have a spot on the cabinet of the SGA like when I left in May because I really love working as a SGA Officer and serving to help better the student body. Because I never announced I was leaving, just stated I wanted to transfer. So let's have a great 2012-2013 year and move on to better and bigger things. Let's make improvement!"

DJ is also very proud of Kent Broughton and his candidacy for Mayor. He wishes Broughton the best and say's that he has his full support in any way that he can help.
