Shreveport -- After hearing about the disturbing news about the mass shooting and killings at an Elementary school in Newtown, imagesqtbnANd9GcTUUpq2menHmkVv9BZcd.jpgCT. More sad news came along into our hearts.

Our senior editor, D.J. Jr. (@CuzICan_DJ) attends the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) which is an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities)  and as apart of our D.J's Music Site HBCU Campaign which is to honor all HBCU's around the United States felt our sorrow to report this. But our senior editor heard the news last Thursday about UAPB's Alumni, Andrew Perkins who was then reported on life support from being involve in a serious car accident.

Andrew Perkins, 25, was riding back to Grambling State with his friend Michael Hubbard Jr., (25), to support him in his graduation from Grambling State University on Friday. When they were driving on I-20 they crossed the median and struck a 2000 Kenworth Conventional 18-wheeler traveling west on I-20 that was driven by 41-year-old David Alday of Juarez, Mexico.

Hubbard, who was to graduate last Friday with a degree in nursing from GSU, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner's Office.

Friday Michael Hubbard, Jr. parents walked across the GSU stage during the Friday's commencement ceremony to recieve the diploma intended for their son.

GSU President Frank Pogue said he was deeply troubled to hear the news early Friday morning, when he had just taken a photo with Hubbard the previous night during a university event, titled Tiger Torch Night, celebrating the students who were about to graduate.

"I'm not sure anything is more hurtful than to have taken a picture with Michael Hubbard last night when he attended (the event) and then to learn this morning that he had been killed in a car accident," Pogue said. "You could see all the excitement in his face and the face of his parents that he would be graduating (Friday) with his colleagues. Not to have him there (at graduation) was certainly a tremendous shock to the entire Grambling community."

There was an blood drive to honor the lives of the two young man. Donations to the family is unknown and will be find out soon if you would like to donate to the family to show your sympathy.

Funeral services for Michael Hubbard, Jr. and Andrew Perkins who have been best friends their entire lives will be today and together. The services will be at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hills Baptist Church in Shreveport.
