Rapper Chief Keef In Custody After Violating of Probation

CHICAGO -- Rapper Chief Keef from Chicago's South Side was ordered held in custody today after a Cook County jugde ruled that he violated his probation for a previous gun conviction.

Juvenile Court Judge Carl Anthony Walker's decision to jail the 17-year-old rap sensation, whose real name is Keith Cozart, stems from an on-camera interview in June with Pitchfork Media that shows the rapper holding a rifle at a gun range in New York.

Judge Walker ruled that been holding the firearm Chief Keef violated the terms of his 18-month probation, a sentence he was given for pointing a gun at a Chicago police officer in 2011, accoridng to Any Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Keef did not address the judge or testify during the two-hour hearing and is scheduled to be senetenced before Judge Walker on Thursday, said Coklin

Chicago police have been looking into whether Chief Keef and his allies played a role in the Sept. 4 slaying of aspiring rapper Lil Jojo. The slaying garnered national attention after Chief Keef sent a taunting tweet about the slain 18-year-old, whose real name was Joseph Coleman, hours after the killing. Chief Keef, who recently signed a deal with Interscope Records, recieved mostly negative feedback from his more than 200,000 Twitter followers before he claimed his account had been hacked.

His debut album, "Finally Rich" was released nationwide December 18th 2012.
