On Wednesday an White House official tells source that first lady Michelle Obama will travel to Chicago to attend the funeral of Hadiya Pendleton on Saturday.

Mrs. Obama will be joined by White House Senior Adviser, Valerie Jarrett and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

The 15-year-old King College Prep drum majorette was shot to death at a park not far from the first family's south side home soon after performing at President's Barack Obama inauguration festivities.

Pendleton's death has drew global attention to Chicago's homicide and violence problem as local, state and federal officials push for stronger gun legislation in the wake of the Newton, Conn., massacre.

Our senior editor, DJ Jr. is an Alumni of the Chicago non-profit based organization named Mikva Challenge. Which goes into the Chicago Public High Schools and get the students more involve into politicians around the Chicago area. And he came across this petition that was posted in the Alumni group for people to sign the petition for President Barack Obama to come to Chicago to speak to address the violence crisis. Hadiya Pendleton Saturday funeral service is schedule for 11a.m., at Greater Harvest Baptist Church, 5141 S. State, in Chicago. ABC 7 Chicago is streaming the funeral live at 11a.m. on their website, here.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is expected to speak at the services.
