It has been reported by the New York Daily that American Idol plans to fire all four judges and the executive producer as soon as the finale airs next week.

The Wrap quotes an "insider" as saying Fox plans to start the show from scratch next time around, after a year of bad reviews and worse ratings.

Ratings have been 25% lower than last year, previously the worst ratings of all the American Idol seasons. Additionally, the average age of viewer has risen, rather than declined.

That means they are replacing Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and veteran Randy Jackson (who has been there since the beginning).  They also reported that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe may not be returning, another show veteran.

Idol is cleaning house. Did Mariah and Nicki not shine bright for American Idol? and Randy didn't make satisfactory this season?
