After being introduce by Nicki Minaj, the New Zealand singer Lorde took the stage dressed in a striking all-black ensemble, with a wide-brimmed Zorro-style hat. Lorde performed her latest single "Tennis Court," showing emotion as she sings the song.

This performance marked the first ever televised rendition of the song, which appears on the 17-year old singer's 2013 debut album "Pure Heroine."

Lorde is tied with Imagine Dragons for being a finalist in the most categories at this year's Billboard Music Awards, by winning Top New Artist and Top Rock Song, for "Royals."
