DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. - Bethune-Cookman University President Dr. Edison O. Jackson is expected to speak publicly  this morning after three students suffered non-life threatening injuries on Monday after a shooting on campus.

The person who opened fire on the Daytona Beach campus remains on the run this morning.

Jackson will speaking during a town hall meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the university's Performing Arts Center on campus.

"Our public-safety officers responded swiftly to secure the campus and we are grateful that the injuries sustained by our students were non-life threatening," said Jackson in a statement. "As a community we will gather to remind our student of the importance of upholding the core values on which this university was built."

The students were treated at local hospitals and have recently been released.

The incident happened in a parking lot that separates the music building from the football team's practice field, university spokeswomen Beverly James stated. The shooting happened around 6:40pm Monday night.
